Is it ever too late?

Is there any better feeling than having a “crush”?  Meeting someone new and being excited to get to know them, go out on dates, become a couple?  It’s easy to associate those feelings with being young, but the fast growing Baby Boomer generation makes up a huge percentage of singles in the United States.  Older adults who are dating and looking for love have a lot more options these days, especially with the amount of online dating options that are out there.  There are about 2,500 dating sites in the US alone, as well as local meet-up groups and church singles mixers.   Many older adults are looking for the same things as their younger counterparts; however their barriers are very different.  For instance, how do you feel comfortable dating again after the loss of a spouse who you’ve been married to for 50 years?  How do you deal with family members who aren’t ready to move on when you are?  How do you learn to share your life with someone when you’ve spent many years being on your own?  While dating at any age can be messy, these situations can be especially difficult, but for many the payout is worth it.  Whether your 25 or 85, no one wants to feel alone, and let’s face it, being in love is the best!

I recently watched a few clips from a documentary, The Age of Love:  It’s Never too Late to Date.  This Documentary follows several older adults in their search for love and companionship.  From the flings to the long term commitments, it proves that we’re all looking for the same thing…To feel special.
